Expectations of WYB Recreation League Baseball Parents
The purpose of recreation baseball is to provide a positive opportunity for young baseball players to develop their skills and learn about baseball. We expect all parents and family members affiliated with our program to adhere to this code of conduct and the principles embodied in it.
This document is posted on the WYB website to ensure that all coaches and parents are familiar with it.
Our parents are expected to:
Encourage good sportsmanship by supporting the players and coaches
Remember that the emotional and physical well-being of the players is more important than winning
Support the coaches and umpires by treating them with respect at all times and by not interfering with them during games and practices
Ensure that their child arrives at practices and games at the time requested by the coach
Promote a drug, alcohol, and tobacco free sports environment for the players and refrain from their use at all youth sports events
Require their child to treat other players, coaches, fans, and officials with respect, regardless of race, creed, sex, nationality, appearance, or ability
Abide by team rules, control their emotions, and treat all players and fans with respect at all times
Address issues with the coach in a constructive manner. If the issue remains unresolved, address the issue with the director of recreation baseball
Assist the coach whenever assistance is requested
Follow the direction of any coach, umpire, or league official, including leaving the field if asked to leave the field. Serious disturbances may result in the parent’s son being removed from the game or the son’s team forfeiting the game. Repeated infractions may result in the parent’s son being removed from the team.
